[ S.E.A. Write Award Shortlist for Novel (2021) ]

The District is a masterful venture into the realms of thriller and suspense—a novel (or perhaps, an ambitious attempt to manifest as one) that serves as a profound challenge to the reader.

The narrative architecture is one of complexity, concealment, and camouflage. It invites the reader to navigate a labyrinthine search for truth within a fiction meticulously constructed from the shards of reality. This work marks a definitive evolution in the author’s narrative craft.

"There is much to be said about 'The District,' but suffice it to say that this work represents the most honest distillation of my essence, while simultaneously serving as a biting satire of the very identity of a writer."

Selected Excerpts

1. On Love and Confinement

"No words can be trusted, least of all the promise of eternal love. No one is capable of such constancy; this is a truth I have wrested from the passage of my own life. To me, the word 'forever' is synonymous with incarceration—and I loathe being a prisoner."

2. The State of the Virtuous

"In a state where the social fabric is woven beneath the rigid canopy of religious dogma, it is unsurprising that the condemnation of an individual is mediated through the lens of piety. No further explanation is required. The culprit is dead; the drama has reached its denouement. The underlying motives of the criminal are rendered irrelevant. To be an offender is to be intrinsically evil. Regardless of the reasons behind your transgressions within this state, once branded a criminal, you are destined to perish, vanish, be imprisoned, or flee. Reason is immaterial. You are wicked; you deserve your sentence; you deserve the karma you have wrought. For this is a State of the Virtuous, where any reason beyond 'goodness' is cast into the abyss of depravity, buried forever beneath the pristine skies of this simulated paradise."
