We are an independent publishing house and a concept bookshop which have officially published books since 2008. It was founded by Chaiyaporn Intuwisankul and Piyavit Tepumnuaysakul. Our books focus on various radical topics on literature, philosophy, politics and history. From the first day, every books published under the name ‘Sommadhi’ is the book that we have carefully selected and placed to be ‘good’ for our readers.
At the core of our philosophy lies a belief in the ability of book to contain the essence of humanity, the nature of life, and the reality of the world. Packed in words, these ultimate truths are hidden between the lines, waiting for readers to discover their meaning through classics from diverse cultures—be it Russian, German, American, Japanese, or Swedish.
Driven by the conviction that no particular style of writing is superior to another, our mission is to publish a collection as diverse as possible. From short stories and novels to prose and poetry, we continuously champion Thai literature created by writers who believe in the power of words and remain steadfast in observing the ever-changing face of society.
Moreover, we have published non-fiction that offers a broader perspective towards certain topics regarding philosophy, politic, economy, sociology, humanity and religion. In addition, we also provide translated non-fiction, for instance, the work of Karl Marx, John Ruskin and Max Weber as well.
These are what we believe in and who we are. Over 10 years of hard works, over 100 writers, over 170 editions.
