Rawiwarn (รวิวาร) is a versatile contemporary Thai author, translator, and editor whose evocative poetry and multi-genre prose seamlessly traverse the delicate borders of geographical and internal landscapes.
Rawiwarn serves as both the birth name and the literary moniker of a female writer whose life is intrinsically bound to the textual arts of writing, translation, and editorial stewardship. Operating as a literary shape-shifter, her creative consciousness manifests across diverse genres, spanning poetry, essays, non-fiction, fables, and short stories.
Born in the Mae Ai (แม่อาย) district, she spent her formative years navigating her secondary education in Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่). She subsequently moved to Khon Kaen (ขอนแก่น) as a first-year student in the Faculty of Agriculture. Yet, driven by an idealistic conviction to serve society, she soon redirected her trajectory toward the capital city to pursue studies in Social Administration.
During this pivotal period, she discovered a profound inclination toward reading and composition. Through rigorous self-cultivation, her early works began to grace the pages of prominent literary journals; her poetry and short stories gained publication, with one of her short pieces selected for the prestigious Chor Karaket (ช่อการะเกด) magazine. This milestone solidified her creative path, propelling her to continue writing, embark on translation projects, and join the editorial board of the esteemed Dok Ya Publishing House (สำนักพิมพ์ดอกหญ้า).
A Lifelong Literary Journey
As time passed, Rawiwarn pivoted back to her ancestral roots, weaving her life through the northern landscapes of Pai (ปาย), Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่), and Chiang Dao (เชียงดาว). There, she established a Thai culinary school for international visitors while maintaining a steady output of translated literature, producing self-published books, and acting as a freelance editor. On various occasions, she also shared her expertise as a guest lecturer for academic institutions, literary societies, and creative writing workshops.
In 2020, Rawiwarn made a striking return to the literary forefront with her latest, highly nuanced work titled The Lesser Era (จุลศักราช) —a piece conceptually defined as:
"A collage of poetry and autobiographical essays capturing the internal psyche during the displacement of borders."
Presently, Rawiwarn operates a boutique homestay in the serene district of Chiang Dao (เชียงดาว). She remains deeply committed to the craft of poetry and translation, while actively conceptualizing her forthcoming collection of short fiction. Concurrently, she has embarked on the grander task of drafting a full-length novel—a defining milestone in her ongoing literary evolution.
